General Information

The aim of the Department of Educational Management is to train administrators and inspectors for educational institutions, to train academic staff for relevant departments of universities, to enhance the professional competencies of teachers, administrators, and inspectors working in institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, and to train experts in school management and educational inspection.

In this context, the objectives of the program are:

  1. To provide knowledge in educational management and planning, educational leadership, and educational policy development, including related fields such as program development, instruction, assessment, and evaluation.
  2. To impart the ability to design and conduct research in educational management and planning and other related disciplines to students.
  3. To facilitate skill development in other areas of education.

Therefore, the Educational Management program expects students to follow developments in the field of educational management, to be able to restructure these developments in the light of theoretical knowledge, and to develop practical recommendations to improve the capacity of schools at national and international levels. Our philosophy, which aims to place students at the center of teaching practice through various seminars, envisages that students will be raised as lifelong learners. Graduates from various disciplines are accepted into this program. Within the Department of Educational Management, there are thesis-based master's programs, non-thesis master's programs, and distance education master's programs.

Student Admission Requirements

For the doctoral program, evaluation is made by taking 50% of the ALES score in the equal-weighted (EA) score type, 25% of the master's degree GPA, and 25% of the interview score. Additionally, candidates are required to achieve at least 65 points from the YDS or YÖKDİL exam, or an equivalent score from one of the language exams (such as TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) as a prerequisite for the doctoral application. For the thesis-based master's program, evaluation is made by taking 50% of the ALES score in the equal-weighted (EA) score type, 25% of the undergraduate GPA, and 25% of the interview score. The scores obtained are ranked starting from the highest score. Admissions are made according to the announced quota.

For the non-thesis master's program, evaluation is made based on the undergraduate GPA. Candidates are ranked starting from the highest score. Admissions are made according to the announced quota.

For the distance education master's program, evaluation is made based on the undergraduate GPA. Candidates are ranked starting from the highest score. Admissions are made according to the announced quota.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students transferring from another university's institutes with programs similar to the University's institute, and whose equivalence has been approved by the relevant board, can be considered equivalent to the courses they have taken and succeeded from similar programs by decision of the Institute Management Board. Students enrolled in the Educational Management Thesis Master's program may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of specific regulations. If the content of a course taken at another institution is deemed suitable for the content of the course given in the program and is approved by the Institute Directorate, it may be considered equivalent to the appropriate course(s) of the program.

Program Objective

The aim of the program is to train professionals who have grasped the effects of education and educational management on societal institutions, groups, and individuals, have analyzed the education system and organizations, have adopted a scientific way of thinking and behaving, aimed at lifelong learning, effectively use knowledge and communication technologies, have professional ethical values, and are open to learning and development.

Professional Profile of Graduates

Graduates, with their research and theory-based content, will be able to work in the public or private sector in the fields of educational management, inspection, economics, and planning as well as continue their education as respected academics in the field.

Transition to Higher Degree Programs

Graduates who successfully complete the master's program can apply for doctoral programs in their own or related fields, provided that they obtain a valid score from the ALES exam, and demonstrate English language proficiency. They are accepted into doctoral programs if they are successful in the interview.

The assessment and evaluation methods applied for each course are specified in the course descriptions prepared by the relevant faculty members. Examinations and course grades are subject to the relevant articles of the GAÜN Graduate Education and Examination Regulation. Graduation Requirements

For the thesis-based master's program, students who are required to take 7 courses must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 to graduate from this program, prepare and defend a master's thesis, and be successful in all courses required by the program with at least a "CC" grade.

For non-thesis and distance education master's programs, students who are required to take 8 courses must have a minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4.00 to graduate from this program, prepare a master's project, and be successful in all courses required by the program with at least a "CC" grade.
